Slippery Fish

On our way home from visiting family the other day we heard Ethan singing in the backseat without being prompted. We often sing and let him fill in the last word of a phrase--which he loves to do. But this was the first time we recognized a song that he was singing totally on his own--and it was actually a song he learned in nursery that I don't know so I couldn't even join in. The song is called Octopus--but we like to call it "slippery fish" instead since that is the first verse, and octopus is the second. Anyway, It was so fun though to hear him remember different parts of the song. He would say "slippery fish...gulp, gulp...oh no, eaten by...whale!" For those of you who, like me, didn't know this song existed here are the words.

It is a really cute song. I still don't know all the actions they do in Nursery, but we're getting good at making up our own. I have only found a little excerpt of the song to download (at least for free) or I would post that link too.

Wheeler Farm

I hadn't been to Wheeler Farm since I went on a class field trip in kindergarten. I didn't remember much from that trip, other than touching baby chicks and that everything looked really old. But in my ward we were trying to come up with fun new places to go for our weekly playgroups and I heard it was free to get in, so we thought, why not? It turned out to be so much fun. The farm is huge and you would never guess you are right off of I-215. There is a wagon ride, and pony ride that cost a little, and kids can see about every farm animal you can think of.

Ethan's favorite part was feeding the ducks and geese. I should try to upload a video, but he would get a handful of duck food, throw it up in the air and it would land on his head. He couldn't get enough of it. Once a goose nipped a little at his finger--not too hard, but it scared him a little. After I explained that the goose thought his finger was food and how silly that was he found it hillarious. He still wants us to act it out to this day having us pretend to be the goose and mistakenly eating a finger instead of the food.

I think this is a place we will definintely have to visit again soon.
