Evil Eye

While Ethan was staying with my family in April while we were on vacation, he learned a lot of new things that the family couldn't wait to show us when we got back. This one is called the "evil eye" and he learned it from none other than his Uncle Michael. It originally came from a YouTube video that Michael loves of a baby that would give people the evil eye then burst out laughing. We think Ethan would give that kid a run for his money.

Spring Festival

Earlier this month we all went to the "Spring Festival" at a local farm which included a fishing pond, bounce house, hay ride and samples of their apple cider. It was a fun way to spend a Saturday morning--and it made me want to do the apple cider thing more often!

Edmonton

Shortly after we went to Hawaii, we headed up to Edmonton to visit Jason's Family. We did these trips so close together so we could coordinate with Jason's Grandma who was coming from Montreal. It was so fun to meet her, and so fun to see Ethan interact with his cousins.

The last two times we've ventured up to Canada have been in the Winter, so we loved being able to be outside and really let the kids play this time.

Ethan has a cousin that is just a month older than he is, and they really loved each other. She would call his name as soon as she came over to Grandma's house, and want him to play with her. One day they kept giving each other hugs every time we asked them too--even though that ended up being dozens of times so everyone could get a picture.

Hawaii

We have had quite the eventful month and a half--and I'm just getting around to blogging about it. At the end of April Jason and I took our first vacation for two since Ethan was born. We had actually been planning it for a long time. He has a conference that he attends each year, and two years ago we found out that in 2009 it would be held in Hawaii. So yes, we saved and let Ethan stay with Grandma and Grandpa Burton and we took off just the two of us for a week.

It was so great to have that time together--and luckily, Jason could skip out on more of the conference than originally planned, so we got to see most of Oahu. We hit the Polynesian Cultural Center, went snorkeling (and even saw a sea turtle up close), and also made it out to Pearl Harbor.

At first I didn't know what to do without Ethan to keep track of, but the week went by so quickly, and before we knew it, it was time to head home. Knowing that Ethan was so happy also made it way easier to be away from him. We called a few times while we were gone and our conversations went something like this:

Ethan: Mommy!
Me: Hi Ethan! How are you? We miss you.
Ethan: Bye Bye!
and he would be off playing with toys.
